چکیده

Abstract Developing and applying a novel plant growth–promoting agent (PGPA; micronutrient-amino acid chelated compound developed from autolysis yeast cells) in alleviating salt stress toxicity can be the best alternative option environmentally economically. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) showed that assembled PGPA is rich nucleobases than extract (> 56-fold). This study, as first investigation, was aimed to evaluate PGPA’s potential role reducing oxidative injury induced by stress. Barley ( Hordeum vulgare L. cv. Giza 123) plants were grown under non-saline or saline conditions (6.0 12.0 dS m −1 ) with without foliar application. The application mitigated salt-induced enhancing activity of superoxide dismutase, catalase, guaiacol peroxidase, ascorbate monodehydroascorbate reductase, dehydroascorbate glutathione S-transferase, well content ascorbate, glutathione, proline, glycinebetaine. Moreover, protected salt-stressed deleterious effects methylglyoxal up-regulating glyoxalase enzymes activity. alleviated membrane damage decreasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation, electrolyte leakage, NADP + content. protection photosynthesis closely associated improved chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, leaf water content, stability index, NADPH PGPA-treated also exhibited higher stomatal conductivity together transpiration photosynthetic rates conditions. Overall, regulated antioxidant machinery, system, capacity, implying it plays critical mitigation. Therefore, could useful alleviate harmful salinity

Lysine Catabolism in Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.).

Lysine catabolism in seedlings of barley (Hordeum vulgare L. var. Emir) was studied by direct injection of the following tracers into the endosperm of the seedlings: aspartic acid-3-(14)C, 2-aminoadipic acid-1-(14)C, saccharopine-(14)C, 2,6-diaminopimelic acid-1-(7)-(14)C, and lysine-1-(14)C. Labeled saccharopine was formed only after the administration of either labeled 2,6-diaminopimelic acid...

Allelopathic Plants. 19. Barley (Hordeum vulgare L)

Barley is integrated with other crops to inhibit weed growth, through allelopathic interactions. Effects of barley on growth of other crops, weeds and autotoxicity among cultivars result primarily from allelopathy mediated by allelochemicals released from plant components and/or exuded from living roots. A limited number of allelochemicals are identified that contributes to allelopathic effecti...

Identification of a Phytase Gene in Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)

BACKGROUND Endogenous phytase plays a crucial role in phytate degradation and is thus closely related to nutrient efficiency in barley products. The understanding of genetic information of phytase in barley can provide a useful tool for breeding new barley varieties with high phytase activity. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis for phytase activity was condu...

Effects of salt and heat pre-treatment factors on efficient regeneration in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)

An efficient callus induction and plant regeneration system has been developed using salt and heat as pre-treatment factors for three barley genotypes viz. BB-3, BB-6 and BHL-18. Different concentrations of NaCl (1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5 and 6.5 g/L) were used and its effects were determined on the basis of the viability of callus (CV), plant regeneration (PR), relative growth rate (RGR) and tol...

Alkylresorcinols in barley (Hordeum vulgare L. distichon) grains.

This study was carried out to compare grains of barley (Hordeum vulgare L. distichon) regarding contents and compositions of 5-n-alkylresorcinols. Mixtures of resorcinol homologues were isolated from acetone extracts from five barley cultivars. These polyketide metabolites were identified by chromatographic and spectroscopic means. The content and homologue patterns among different varieties we...
